Joining Instructions
Membership on our forum or gallery is open to anyone, whether you’re interested in discussing Lodoss, meeting other fans, or joining in our open role-plays. Please read over this page for information on our forum membership rules and advice.
ForumThere is no email activation for the forum, but to combat spam you must answer the bottest question on the registration forum as human. If you select bot, you will be denied membership. After you register successfully, an email will be automatically sent to you with your username and password information for your records. Please see below for more information.
GalleryIf you wish to join our gallery to submit art, you are welcome to register to do so. You can upload files after joining, but they must be approved by the administrator before they appear in the gallery until you are put into the members usergroup. If you are a member of the forum, please use the same username in both places.
Registration Information
Here are some rules for new members regarding profiles. As a note, we generally do not delete members, except for spammers. If you join and never post, we won't remove your account (though some old accounts that were registered and never used were altered for a forum project). Members who are disrespectful or harass the community will be banned, however.
Username: You may use just about any username, so long as it doesn't violate certain terms. We would prefer if you did not use your real name as your username, especially if your name is rather common, as you might be confused with another member (for example, we have had up to three Toms, two Blakes, multiple Julies, Julias, etc.).
It might be a good idea to not make your first character's name your username, as you may create more in the future and it could get confusing. If you're unfamiliar with forums, there is no need to stick to lower case or use underscores as spacers in your username; you may use any character and spaces (underscores have been disallowed though, because they're ugly :P).
Below are some things that are simply not allowed under any circumstances:
- You cannot use sexually graphic or vulgar terms in your username.
- You cannot name yourself for a canon character. You can call yourself "Deedlit Fan" or something, but not "Deedlit24254", for example. There are NPC accounts for most canon characters already.
- Please do not create accounts for different characters. Due to the fact that I (Z) play so many characters, and use my main account for administrative purposes, it is easier to keep track of players if I am the only one who uses multiple accounts.
Using a forbidden username will result in either the administrator asking you to choose a new username, or editing it, then notifying you so you can log in with it. If you refuse to change the username, or change it after it's been changed, the name itself may be banned, or you may receive an IP ban.
Messenger Contacts: Either enter your messenger contacts, or don't. Please do not add notes that say, "ask me and I'll tell you" or leave a note with how to contact you with your screenname. These notes don't show. The only thing that shows is a little icon that works with a messenger program to open a window (except in the case of MSN). As for MSN messenger contacts, do not enter your screenname, enter the email account you use in MSN messenger.
Signature: You may use this as a place to put a quote, or to sign your name. Do not use anything that is graphically sexual or bigoted, but just about everything else is ok.
Avatar: You will be able to upload an avatar after your account has been activated. Again, do not use a graphically sexual avatar. If you intend to join the RP, you need to select an avatar.
You may also select an avatar from a gallery. These avatars are made from Lodoss art and free for anyone to chose. When editing your profile, you can find the gallery by clicking the Display Gallery button. Avatars are seperated into different galleries based on characters, so use the drop down list at the top to chose a gallery of a character. To make sure no one is using the same avatar that you want to use, check this thread for the list of avatars in use.
After registering, please go to the Welcoming board and introduce yourself! You're welcome to hop into any conversations on the open boards, or start your own. Generally, a topic is fair game to discuss if it hasn’t been locked. As for role-plays, all you need to do is write up a little character profile, and find some people to RP with! Please be mindful of the tags on the active RP threads. If a thread says [Private] it means that the players involved don’t want anyone else to join, but if it says [Open], you can hop on in if you like the setting.
