History of Lodoss: Timeline
The information here is from the booklet that came with Chronicles of the Heroic Knight boxed set and other sources. Events beyond NRC 526 are fabricated for this game. Also see the Character Timeline to see how the births of and major events in our characters lives fit into the history of Lodoss.
Time of the Ancient Kingdom
- Sorcerers of the Ancient Kingdom seal away the King Spirits. The sorcerer Azhard later strikes a covenant in which Djinn and Efreet become guardian deities and are sealed in a sacred urn.
NRC 0
- The Ancient Kingdom of Kastuul collapses.
- Governor Saluvan curses the five chromatic dragons to guard the Governor's Treasures. Bramd was given the Mirror of Truth, Abram the Soul Crystal Ball, Narse the Ferroniere of Knowledge, Mycen the Staff of Life, and Shooting Star was given the Scepter of Domination.
- Karla seals herself into an enchanted circlet.
NRC 50
- Naneel, Queen of the Dead and high priestess of Kardis, begins her treachery in Alania.
NRC 100-200
- Various city-states arise: Kanon, Roid, Rood, Adan, Marnie, Loran, Highland, Harken, Persei, and Saluvad.
NRC 101
- Kadamos defeats Naneel and inaugurates the kingdom of Alania. He later launches and expedition of Marmo.
NRC 111
- King Kadamos of Alania dies. Most of his forces on Marmo return to Alania, but some remain and settle the island.
NRC 221
- The kingdom of Elvec is inaugurated. Its forces advance westward, taking possession of Venon and Adan.
NRC 229
- Elvec continues its gluttonous expansion, forcibly merging with the city-states of Rood, Marnie, and Loran.
NRC 249
- After twenty years, there is a revolution against Elvec. The city-states regain their independence and establish themselves as the Holy Kingdom of Valis.
NRC 259
- The Dragons Covenant is formed.
NRC 313
- The Academy of Sages is created.
NRC 473 Lady of Pharis manga continuity begins.
- Neese releases Bramd, the Ice Dragon, from Saluvan's curse.
- King Bruuk of Skard releases the Demon God, who promptly attacks the Dwarven kingdom of Stone and the Mirror Forest. So begins the War of the Demon God.
- The covenant with the dragons is abandoned.
- The Hundred Heroes and Allied Order of Knights are gathered and move on Highland to liberate those who were conquered by the Demon God King.
- The golden-scaled dragon is released.
- The Mirror of Truth is stolen.
NRC 474
- The Six Heroes, Fahn, Beld, Wort, Fleve, Karla, and Neese, defeat the Demon God. The warrior priestess Flaus dies and is named a Saint.
NRC 496
- Fahn ascends the throne of Valis.
NRC 497
- Beld declares a united Marmo, assuming the title of Dark Emperor. The Marmo Empire is inaugurated.
NRC 503
- In Alecrast, three years before, Kashue Arnegue the III is arrested and becomes a gladiator slave. He regains his freedom and travels to Lodoss where he joins the Wind Tribe as a mercenary in the Storm and Fire Desert.
- Karla takes Leylia, Neese's daughter.
NRC 504
- At the Tower of Dust Storms, Kashue destroys the urn containing Djinn. Eventually, he becomes the King of Flaim.
NRC 509
- The Academy of Sages is destroyed through Wagnard's machinations.
NRC 510 OAV continuity begins.
- Deedlit travels to the human world.
- Parn and Etoh encounter Slayn and Ghim, then later Deedlit joins their party.
- Beld invades Kanon and the royal family is killed.
- The Kadomos Family is assassinated.
- The War of Heroes begins.
- Fahn and Beld die in battle.
- The War of Heroes ends.
- Parn's showdown with Karla, Leylia is freed.
- Slayn and Leylia marry.
NRC 512 Demon of Flame manga continuity begins.
- The Flame tribe, now in possession of Efreet, destroy Haven. However, they are overpowered by the Kingdom of Flaim and surrender.
- Deedlit frees Djinn from the Tower of Dust Storms.
- Little Neese is born to Slayn and Leylia.
NRC 514
- Narse and Shooting Star awaken from hibernation.
NRC 515 Chronicles of the Heroic Knight anime continuity begins
- Ashram slays Bramd and Abram in search of the Scepter of Domination.
- The Soul Crystal Ball is taken by Groder, later stolen by Maar.
- Parn, Deedlit, Leylia, Slayn, and Cecil encounter Shiris and Orson.
- Kashue and Ashram join forces at Fire Dragon Mountain to slay Shooting Star. They later duel for the Scepter of Domination, which was lost in the fight. Ashram attempts suicide, but is secretly teleported to safety by the sorcerer, Groder.
- Orson is killed.
- Prince Reona of Kanon returns and assumes the title of king. He forms the Kanon Free Army to fight Marmo's presence.
NRC 520 Deedlit's Tale manga continuity begins.
- The spell on the Forest of No Return is lifted.
NRC 524
- Neese, one of the Six Heroes, High Priestess of Marfa, mother to Leylia and grandmother to Little Neese, dies.
NRC 525 Chronicles of the Heroic Knight manga continuity begins, anime continuity continues.
- Duke Raster of Alania forms an alliance with Marmo, thus re-igniting the conflict and starting the War of the Destroyer's Resurrection.
- Dark elves infiltrate Akroyd and steal the Soul Crystal Ball.
- Spark is sent out to retrieve the Soul Crystal Ball. He is followed by Little Neese.
- The main temple of Falis at Roid is attacked. The Staff of Life is lost.
- Duke Raster is executed. Meanwhile on Marmo, the ruling council is disbanded.
- Holy war is declared on Marmo. The nations of Lodoss engage Marmo in a final pitched battle. The armies of Marmo are defeated.
- Ashram escapes Marmo with most of its human population and sails to the new world.
- Wagnard becomes King of the Undead.
- Kardis is resurrected briefly, then Marfa appears to seal her away for all eternity. Marmo is now cleansed of Kardis malevolent presence.
- The War of the Destroyer's Resurrection ends.
- Heir to the Alanian Throne, Ropus II, becomes King of Alania.
NRC 526
- The Duchy of Marmo is inaugurated as a dominion of Flaim. Its first duke is Spark.
- The rebuilding of Kanon and Alania begins.
NRC 527
- Spark and Neese marry.
NRC 530
- Our game begins. Lodoss has been at peace for five years. Kanon and Alania are nearly restored to their former glory and all nations have their respective leaders intact.
